Arrow Strikes Car During School Archery, Sparks Safety Debate

Arrow Pierces Car During School Archery

A viral video recently showed a shocking sight — an arrow stuck in the back door of a car parked near a school. The footage revealed that the stray arrow likely came from an archery session being conducted inside the school compound.

When the camera panned, students could be seen practicing with bows and arrows across the road, suggesting the projectile had flown over and hit the vehicle by mistake.

No Injuries, But Close Call

Thankfully, no pedestrians were hurt and the arrow did not strike anyone nearby. The damage was limited to the car, but the incident immediately raised concerns about safety during such school activities.

In the comment section of the viral video, many netizens advised the car owner to lodge a police report and demand accountability from the school. Others suggested that schools must install proper barriers to prevent stray arrows from endangering passersby.

Not The First Time

This isn’t the first incident of its kind. Back in 2019, 62-year-old retiree Tan Theam Lye from Kuantan faced a similar situation when his car’s back door was punctured by a stray arrow during a nearby school archery practice.

At the time, he received RM300 in compensation from the school teacher responsible. The case highlighted the risks of conducting archery in open spaces without proper safety measures.

Authorities Took Action

Following the Kuantan case, District Education Officer Mohd Razali Mustafar announced that archery and other potentially dangerous sports such as discus throwing would no longer be allowed in schools without proper facilities or safety setups.

Despite those measures, the latest viral video suggests the rules may not always be strictly enforced — reigniting the debate about whether such activities should be permitted in schools without adequate safeguards.
