Growing up with health-conscious parents was like embarking on a rollercoaster ride of veggies, detox juices, and early bedtimes. At the time, it felt like they had a hand in every aspect of our lives, but little did we know, those “parental interventions” were secretly boosting our well-being and making us look fabulous.

- Eating our greens was a non-negotiable mission imposed by health-conscious parents. From battling bitter lettuce to conquering mushy lady’s fingers, we were also forced to down detox juices made from sawi and bitter gourd. While these greens might not have been our top picks, they did wonders for our immune systems, digestion, and gave us that radiant, healthy glow!
- Family Fitness Fiasco:
- Weekends were synonymous with gaming and relaxation dreams, but our sporty parents had other plans. Family days meant outdoor adventures filled with brisk jogs, intense badminton sessions, and more. Though exercise seemed like a chore, we now appreciate the benefits – reducing the risk of chronic diseases, strengthening bones and muscles, and even delaying skin aging!
- The 10 PM Curfew:
- Forget late-night escapades; we were snug in bed by grandma-approved bedtime. Little did we know that this discipline would establish a healthy circadian rhythm, boosting heart health, and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Plus, it turns out “beauty sleep” isn’t just a saying – it prevents dark eye circles, acne, and fine lines!
- Hobby Hijinks:
- To pry us away from screens, our parents enrolled us in a plethora of hobby classes like painting, dancing, and piano playing. TV time was replaced with creativity and skill-building, and as we grew older, we realized these activities played a crucial role in stress management and mental wellness. Bonus: stress management keeps pesky breakouts at bay!
- Supplement Saga:
- While friends indulged in ice cream, our sweet treat was limited to Vitamin C gummy bears. From liquid vitamins to fish oil pills, we had a daily supplement routine. Little did we know, this daily ritual filled the nutrient gaps in our meals, supporting a healthy immune system and contributing to plump, smooth skin!
