[VIDEO] Teacher Surprises Student with Umrah Package Upon Retirement, Touching Many Hearts

Every Muslim on Earth surely aspires to perform the pilgrimage of Umrah and Hajj given the opportunity.

In a heartwarming gesture, a male student at SMK Wakaf Bharu was pleasantly surprised when his teacher gifted him an Umrah package on the occasion of the teacher’s retirement.

Reported by Berita Harian, Ahmad Zaki, 60, offered the Umrah package to Mohd Daniel Hakim Faiz Teng, 14, a Form Two student, through a lucky draw conducted in front of more than 1,000 students and teachers in the school hall.

The 14-year-old student received the gift with tears of gratitude and even hugged the teacher who taught Islamic Education and Arabic Language as he ascended the stage to receive the symbolic prize.

Expressing his gratitude, the student revealed that he had harbored the desire to visit Mecca for Umrah before. The unexpected announcement left him in disbelief, feeling like it was a dream come true.

“When the number was announced, I was very surprised and hesitant to get up because it felt like a dream. Only after it was announced again did I get up and walk towards the stage to receive this meaningful gift. I will cherish this Umrah package for the rest of my life because I had dreams of going to Mecca and Medina, but it seemed impossible as I am still in school, and my family is not well-off,” he said.

The student, the eldest of two siblings, did not anticipate that his dream of performing Umrah would be fulfilled at such a young age.

Moved to gift a student after returning from Umrah

The 60-year-old teacher shared that he was inspired to give this gift to a student as a lifelong memory following his retirement after serving as an educator for 31 years. Ahmad Zaki disclosed that the idea arose after his recent return from Umrah, and he contemplated giving a meaningful gift.

The teacher did not inform anyone about his intention until a few days before celebrating his retirement.
