Chinese Journalists Amaze Netizens with Their Fluent Malay and Love for Nasi Kandar
A group of journalists from China went viral on social media after they were filmed speaking fluently in Malay while enjoying nasi kandar at a mamak restaurant in Putrajaya.
In a video uploaded by TikTok user @husnaliangliang, the group of journalists can be seen dining and chatting in clear and fluent Malay. What’s even more impressive is that they confidently explained the dishes they chose — from fried chicken, mixed gravy, to sambal shrimp — as if they had been living in Malaysia for years.
From China to Putrajaya, But with a ‘Mamak’ Soul
The video sparked positive reactions from netizens, most of whom were amazed at the journalists’ effort to learn the local language and culture.
“Wow, the way they explain the dishes one by one, even better than us locals!” wrote one user in the comment section.
Some also praised their courage in adapting to the Malaysian atmosphere, viewing it as the best example of cultural integration between the two countries.
