Former Miss Grand Malaysia Lishalliny Reveals Molestation Incident by Temple Priest

Lishalliny Opens Up About Horrific Temple Encounter

Former Miss Grand Malaysia and TV personality, Lishalliny Kanaran, has come forward with serious allegations against a temple priest who allegedly molested her during a visit to a Hindu temple in Selangor. Sharing her story via Instagram, she recounted the terrifying ordeal that left her mentally and emotionally shattered.

She Was Searching for Spiritual Peace

Lishalliny admitted she wasn’t deeply religious in the past, but had recently started exploring her faith more actively. On June 21, she visited the temple alone as her mother was away in India. She often sought guidance from a priest there, whom she had trusted during earlier visits.

A Suspicious Ritual Turned into a Nightmare

After praying, the priest asked her to meet him in a separate office room. According to her, he began pouring a strong-smelling liquid into holy water and splashing it on her face, to the point where her eyes were stinging and unable to open. It was during this moment of vulnerability that he allegedly molested her, slipping his hand under her clothing.

“I froze. I couldn’t move or speak. My brain knew it was wrong, but my body couldn’t respond,” she wrote, detailing the deep sense of betrayal she felt from someone she had considered a spiritual guide.

Attempt to Confront the Suspect

When her mother returned on July 4, the two of them, along with her brothers, attempted to confront the priest at the temple. However, they were told he was no longer present. The temple allegedly made no effort to support her, and she claimed they were more concerned with protecting their image than helping a victim.

She Decided to Speak Up for Others

Lishalliny explained that she shared her story not to seek sympathy but to encourage other victims to speak up. “You are not to blame. You did nothing wrong,” she wrote. “I kept quiet for too long because I felt ashamed. But if I stay silent, who will speak?”

Her heartfelt message resonated with many Malaysians who commended her bravery and even shared similar experiences at the same temple.

Police Now Involved in Manhunt

According to Sepang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman, the suspect is an Indian national temporarily filling in as the temple’s priest while the resident one is away. He allegedly used the holy ritual as a cover to molest the victim.

The case is now being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty, a charge that carries up to 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping, or a combination of the three upon conviction.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Sepang police at 03-8777 4222 or Inspector Sathiyan Balrajoo at 013-206 0771.
