Malaysian Kidnapped by Filipino Police Officers, Ransom Demand of RM200,000

In a shocking incident in Pasay, Philippines, four tourists, including a Malaysian, were kidnapped recently.

It was reported that four police officers and several armed individuals were arrested and charged with the abduction.

The four tourists were in a Lexus car when they were stopped by Philippine National Police officers on motorcycles on Taft Avenue, Pasay.

A white van following the police was used to kidnap the victims.

The victims were identified as Tang Heng Fei, a 25-year-old Malaysian, and three Chinese nationals: Meng Zhao (29), Yang Zhuan Zhuan (30), and Shi Yi Xuan (32).

Out of the four, Tang Heng Fei and Shi Yi Xuan managed to escape and reported the incident to nearby authorities.

To save their friends, they paid a ransom of PHP2.5 million, roughly RM200,000, demanded by the kidnappers.

The two other victims were beaten by the kidnappers throughout the night before being released on Monday, June 3rd, around 6 AM after the ransom was received.

Upon receiving information about the kidnapping, Chief of the Philippine National Capital Region Police Office, Major General Melencio Nartatez, launched a search operation that led to the arrest of four suspects.

Operatives from the Southern Police District and the Anti-Kidnapping Group were involved in the arrest.

On June 5th, the four police officers detained were Sergeant Major Angelito David, Sergeant Major Ralph Tumangil, Sergeant Ricky Tabora, and Major Carlo Villanueva.

They have all been charged with kidnapping for ransom, robbery, and car theft.
