The woman, known as Madam A, lives in Buriram Province and has been living in constant fear of her 42-year-old son’s violent behaviour due to his drug addiction. According to Oddity Central, after years of trying and failing to get her son the help he needed, Madam A resorted to extreme measures to keep him confined at home.

Madam A revealed that she has been enduring her son’s violent outbursts for over 20 years. To protect herself and her neighbours from the danger he posed, she decided to build a prison-like cell within her house, complete with iron bars. This drastic decision came after years of her son’s escalating violence and failed attempts to help him through rehab programs.

Madam A explained that despite sending her son to 10 different rehab centres across the country, none of the programs managed to help him beat his addiction. Not only did he struggle with drugs, but he also developed a severe gambling problem, making matters worse.

Living Alone in Despair

Since her husband’s passing, which was partly due to the emotional toll of their son’s addiction, Madam A has been living alone with her troubled son. She expressed how the stress and depression caused by his addiction had taken a toll on her physical and emotional well-being.

“The room with iron bars has everything he needs, like a bed, bathroom, and Wi-Fi,” Madam A said. She added that the room is equipped with CCTV cameras so she can monitor him around the clock. She also ensured that he could receive food and drinks through a system she set up.

Could Madam A Face Legal Consequences?

While Madam A believed these measures were necessary to keep her safe and protect the neighbourhood, her actions caught the attention of local authorities. It remains unclear how the police discovered the makeshift prison, but they grew concerned upon visiting her home.

The authorities have ordered Madam A to dismantle the cell, although they assured her that they would work on finding a more suitable solution to her situation. However, she could potentially face legal charges for violating human rights and unlawful detention.
