In a surprising and colourful encounter, a rare bird species made an unexpected visit to a Malaysian home — and ended up trapped inside a gym room.

According to a Reddit user who posted about the incident, the bird appeared confused and repeatedly bumped into the glass window while attempting to escape.

“None of us had ever seen a bird like this before,” the user wrote, describing the bird as adorably confused but stunningly vibrant.

Identified as the Jambu Fruit Dove

The bird was soon identified as the Jambu fruit dove, a rare species native to Southeast Asia, known for its bright pastel feathers and typically elusive nature.

Netizens were quick to admire its appearance, with one Reddit comment saying:

“It looks like it just stepped out of a salon,”

while another wrote, “That bird looks like sirap bandung — so sweet and colourful!”

Released Back Into Nature

After a few careful attempts, the bird was safely removed from the room and released back into its natural habitat.

Videos and photos of the incident went viral on social media, where users expressed both amusement and awe at the unexpected guest.

“So pretty, the colours are unreal!” said one user, while others remarked how rare and lucky the sighting was.

A Gentle Reminder About Urban Wildlife

This rare encounter serves as a reminder of the increasing interaction between urban spaces and wildlife. Whether you’re in a high-rise apartment or suburban home, always be mindful of birds or animals that might accidentally find their way indoors.

If you encounter a wild animal in distress, it’s best to contact local wildlife authorities or a nearby vet before taking any action.
