“Keeping Things Safe” – Uni Lecturer Lets Student Bring Her e-Bike into Class to Keep It Safe from Thieves

Being a teacher means more than just teaching. It also involves looking out for the students’ well-being and safety while they’re at school or on campus.
Recently, a lecturer at a local university gained attention for his act of kindness towards one of his students.
In a viral TikTok video by @heyashyaaziz, a student walked into the lecture room carrying something unexpected – her electric bike.
The lecturer kindly held the door open for her so she could bring her e-bike into the lecture hall to park it there. It was like valet parking, but without the cost. Why didn’t she just leave her bike somewhere on campus or outside the classroom?
According to Ashya, the lecturer wanted to make sure the e-bike stayed safe and wouldn’t get stolen if left unattended.
Ashya mentioned that her classmate initially left the e-bike outside the lecture room, but the lecturer advised against it. He believed that any other lecturer at the university would have done the same – prioritizing the safety of their students’ belongings.
Ashya, who studies at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), also shared that the lecturer didn’t expect the small act of kindness to go viral online. Despite the overwhelming response, he sees it simply as being kind.
“The online community has been really supportive and kind. It’s been a learning experience for me, and I appreciate all the positive comments.”
While many are thanking him for his thoughtful gesture, he, in turn, expressed his gratitude to social media users for teaching him about the power of kindness and support. You can watch Ashya’s viral TikTok video below.
