7-Year-Old Malaysian Girl Wins International English Speech Competition, Inspires Nation!

At just 7 years old, Amatullah Hamidah has made Malaysia proud by winning the 63rd International Children and Youth English Speech Competition last month. Competing against 25 participants from six countries, this young talent emerged as the champion, marking an incredible milestone in her budding public speaking journey.
Hamidah’s International Debut Ends in Victory!
A student at PASTI Al-Furqan in Chendering, Terengganu, Hamidah entered the competition under the Early Childhood Group category, which was organized by Global Arts, Sports, and Culture Association (GASCA) in Hong Kong.
Her mother, Hasmah Darwis, 31, shared that their main goal was to give Hamidah exposure on the international stage while helping her earn points to qualify for the Kuala Terengganu model student selection at PASTI.
🗣️ “She chose to recite a poem for the online competition, and we could see how dedicated she was in practicing. However, my husband and I didn’t pressure her to win.”
A Rising Public Speaking Star from Terengganu
Hamidah is no stranger to the spotlight—she has been actively participating in school-level speech competitions in Terengganu. Her articulate and confident speeches have even earned her recognition from PASTI Terengganu, where her performances are frequently showcased on their social media platforms.
Her achievement has also caught the attention of Terengganu Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who praised her on Facebook.
