Authorities in Panic Searching for Answers After Massive Gas Pipe Explosion Shakes Putra Heights
The explosion, which occurred around 8:10 AM, created a large crater measuring approximately 70 x 80 feet and nearly 32 feet deep, causing severe damage within a 500-meter radius. Vehicles and homes in the nearby area were heavily damaged due to extreme heat and flying debris. Investigation teams from Petronas, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Occupational Safety and Health Department, and the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia have been working tirelessly at the scene. Meanwhile, health authorities confirmed that 64 victims are still being treated at public and private hospitals, with no fatalities reported so far. Approximately 432 affected residents from 98 families are still sheltering at two temporary evacuation centers, with aid coming from various NGOs, government agencies, and the Selangor royal family, who are urging for immediate relocation to safer accommodations.
