A video circulating on social media has sparked public concern after showing a civilian multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) allegedly using flashing blue lights and a siren while navigating through heavy traffic on a highway believed to be the Maju Expressway (MEX).
Police Confirm Investigation Is Ongoing

The incident has drawn the attention of Royal Malaysia Police, who confirmed that investigations are currently underway. According to Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, police are analysing the viral footage but have yet to clearly identify the vehicle’s registration number.
Possible Traffic And Criminal Offences
Based on preliminary observations, the act is believed to fall under Rule 138(1) of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Rules 1959, which prohibits the use of flashing warning lights on vehicles that are not authorised emergency vehicles. If proven, the offence may also be investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries penalties including fines or imprisonment.
Impersonation Angle Also Being Considered
Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of the case being investigated under Section 170 of the Penal Code, which involves impersonating a public servant. This offence carries a heavier penalty, including potential jail time, if the individual is found guilty.

Police have called on members of the public who may have information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the nearest traffic police station.
