Staff Allegedly Notice Suspicious Behaviour At Counter
Staff at a restaurant in Tawau, Sabah, are being praised online after they were said to have stopped a man from allegedly spiking a female customer’s drink. The incident was shared by Pate Grill House on TikTok, where the restaurant owner uploaded CCTV footage and explained what allegedly happened. According to the owner, the man approached the counter to ask whether his friend’s drink was ready before he was allegedly seen taking out a sachet from his pocket and pouring liquid into the drink. The owner claimed the man then placed the drink back on the counter as if nothing had happened.
Restaurant Staff Quietly Warned The Woman
According to the restaurant owner, his staff immediately felt something was wrong and decided not to serve the drink to the woman. Instead, they prepared a fresh drink and handed that one over instead. The owner also claimed the man later returned to the counter after noticing that “nothing had happened” and wanted to check whether the correct drink had been delivered. Staff members then reportedly pulled the woman aside to the restroom and informed her about what allegedly took place. The woman later told staff that she had only known the man for a few days before deciding to leave the restaurant immediately after hearing the explanation.
Video Sparks Debate Online
In the viral video, the restaurant owner praised his staff for reacting quickly and said their actions may have prevented a dangerous situation. He also reminded women to stay cautious when going out, especially when meeting people they do not know well. The video has since gained more than 500,000 views online and sparked mixed reactions from netizens. While many praised the restaurant staff for being alert and brave enough to intervene, others questioned whether the incident was real or simply a marketing stunt. “Good job, Pate staff. Not everyone is brave enough to take such action… May you continue to do good for others,” one user commented.
