Batman Mexico Becomes Police Target
A masked vigilante known as Batman Mexico is being sought by authorities after allegedly capturing suspected motorcycle thieves and tying them to street poles in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. According to reports, at least five men were found restrained with tape over a 10-day period beginning on 13 June. The unusual incidents have drawn widespread attention across social media, with many referring to the unidentified individual as “Batman Mexico.”
Suspects Found Bound Beside Motorcycles
Photos shared by Mexican journalist Luis Cárdenas showed several of the restrained men with moustaches, cat whiskers and the Spanish word for “thief” drawn on their faces. In some cases, motorcycles believed to have been stolen were left beside them, seemingly to highlight the alleged offences. One image showed two men tied back-to-back to a street pole with a pink sign placed above them, while a motorcycle was positioned nearby. The vigilante reportedly left the scenes before authorities arrived.
Police Treat The Men As Victims
Authorities have confirmed they are investigating the incidents and are attempting to identify the person behind the vigilante actions. Jalisco Security Secretary Juan Pablo Hernández said the restrained men are currently being treated as victims under the law. All five were released from the tape restraints and received medical treatment for minor injuries. Police have not confirmed whether the men are being investigated for motorcycle theft, although two vehicles believed to be linked to the incidents have already been identified as part of the ongoing investigation.
