A married couple’s journey back to their hometown ended tragically when both lost their lives in a car crash. The accident happened when their car lost control and collided with the road dividing wall at Kilometer (KM) 8 Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) towards Lipis on Sunday.
The Lipis District Police Chief, Superintendent Ismail Man, stated that the driver of the Perodua Kancil, Nafiah Abdul Wahab, 53, and his passenger, Rofidah Ahmad, 54, died at the scene.
The Lipis District Police Headquarters (IPD) received information about the accident around 11:30 am.
“Preliminary investigation suggests that the couple was returning from Bachok, Kelantan, to their village in Jerantut.
“When we arrived at the scene, the car appeared to have lost control, hitting the dividing wall and overturning.
“As a result, both victims lost their lives at the scene,” he said in a statement late on Sunday.
He mentioned that the case is under investigation according to Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
Ismail appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to step forward and assist with the investigation.
