Bangladeshi Men Caught Posing as Cricket Team to Enter Malaysia Illegally

In a surprising turn of events, 15 Bangladeshi men were caught attempting to sneak into Malaysia by posing as cricket athletes. Their cunning plan was foiled by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) during an inspection at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on March 17.

The group, dressed in full cricket uniforms, claimed they were in Malaysia to participate in a cricket tournament scheduled from March 21 to 23, 2025. They even presented a letter allegedly issued by the Penang Cricket Association to support their claims.

However, AKPS investigations quickly revealed that the letter was fake and no such tournament was scheduled. Suspicion grew further when the group attempted to secure a sponsor as a guarantor. The supposed ‘guarantor’ admitted to having no information about the tournament and claimed to be there only as a company representative.

Following these findings, the 15 men were detained, and AKPS decided to apply the ‘Not-To-Land’ (NTL) ruling, barring the group from entering Malaysia.

“Further inspection found no solid evidence that the group were legitimate cricket athletes. They are likely part of a syndicate attempting to disguise as cricketers to enter Malaysia for other purposes,” AKPS shared in a statement.

Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to misuse sports visas for illegal work, human trafficking, or other unlawful activities.
