It all started when a Facebook user shared a panel from a Marvel comic, showing superheroes attending a tahlil ceremony. Yup, you read that right—a tahlil for none other than Ms. Marvel.

For those unaware, Ms. Marvel—aka Kamala Khan—is Marvel’s first Muslim superhero, and she’s been widely praised for positive representation. In the comic Fallen Friend: The Death of Ms. Marvel, the Muslim community in New Jersey comes together to hold a tahlil to remember Kamala Khan after her tragic death.

Leading the prayer was a local imam, Sheikh Abdullah, in a New Jersey mosque. But what really had fans talking was seeing Marvel characters like Wolverine, Captain Marvel, and Iron Man taking part in the ceremony. Wolverine even greeted Kamala’s father with peace, while Captain Marvel donned a headscarf, and Iron Man respectfully took off his shoes before entering the mosque.

One social media user put it perfectly: “Marvel truly embraces diversity in religion and culture. This is amazing.”
