After months of deadly and destructive tensions, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas has finally been reached. The long and challenging negotiations resulted in a significant agreement on Wednesday, marking the end of a conflict that has claimed tens of thousands of lives, especially in Gaza.

According to statements from the United States (US) and Qatar, the agreement includes several measures, including the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and the release of hostages by Hamas. The first phase of the ceasefire will last for six weeks, with guarantees of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in need.

Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, stated in a press conference in Doha that the agreement will be implemented in the near future. US President Joe Biden also announced that the ceasefire would accelerate humanitarian aid and bring relief to families who have been separated from their hostages for so long.

On the streets of Gaza, Palestinians welcomed the agreement with hope, even though they remain trapped in a severe humanitarian crisis. Gaza, which has been devastated by Israeli air and ground attacks, now awaits the first steps toward recovery.

With this agreement, 33 Israeli hostages will be released, including women, children, and men over the age of 50. While there are still issues to resolve, both sides have shown positive signs regarding the implementation of the agreement.

Egypt’s President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, also welcomed the ceasefire, emphasizing that the collective efforts of intermediary countries like Egypt and Qatar, with support from the US, led to this success.
