Social media influencer Imran Bard is once again at the center of controversy after posting a photo of himself nursing several piglets during a trip to Thailand. The act sparked a wave of mixed reactions online, including harsh criticism and differing perspectives on the matter.
A Controversial Photo
In his Instagram post, Imran, whose full name is Muhammad Al Imran Badaruddin, was seen wearing a black t-shirt and green jeans while holding a milk bottle to feed several piglets.
The caption, “Cute Thai” accompanied by a pig emoji, drew even more attention. The post has garnered over 56,000 likes and nearly 700 comments, ranging from sharp critiques to supportive messages.
A Divided Reaction
Many of his followers condemned the act, citing concerns about how it could lead to misinterpretation, especially given the sensitivity surrounding pigs in Islam.
“Islam forbids causing slander, but one must also avoid creating opportunities for it,” commented one user.
Others accused Imran of seeking attention and engagement at any cost.
“There are so many other animals, why choose pigs? Even if he didn’t touch them, this isn’t appropriate for public viewing,” said another netizen.
However, not all comments were negative. Some defended Imran, arguing that Islam teaches kindness to all creatures, including pigs.
“Pigs are God’s creatures too. As long as we know how to cleanse properly, there’s no issue. Why blow this out of proportion?” shared one user.
“Even Muslim veterinarians treat pigs. Is that wrong too? Let’s not narrow our perspective,” added another.
Between Awareness and Controversy
This incident once again highlights the delicate balance between religious and cultural sensitivities in Malaysia. While Imran’s intention may have been to share a unique experience, many interpreted his actions as insensitive, while others viewed it as a simple misunderstanding.
So far, Imran Bard has not released any official statement on the matter.
