20-Year-Old Chinese Influencer Found Injured & Homeless in Cambodia After Allegedly Being Deceived by Boyfriend

A disturbing case involving a young Chinese influencer has sparked renewed concern over job scams and cross-border exploitation in Southeast Asia.

Found Injured and Abandoned in Sihanoukville

A 20-year-old Chinese woman was discovered homeless near a hotel in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, with visible injuries and fractured legs. Images circulating online showed her in a confused and weakened state, clutching a CT scan image that reportedly confirmed her fractures.

According to passport records shared online, the woman is a native of Fujian, China. She was found on 26 December 2025, days after being reported missing.

Allegedly Lured by Promise of “Easy Money”

Social media users claimed the woman had been deceived by her boyfriend, who allegedly convinced her to travel to Cambodia with the promise of a lucrative job and easy income. Instead, she reportedly ended up abandoned, injured, and without shelter.

Some netizens recognised her as a Douyin influencer, raising further questions about how she ended up in such dire circumstances despite having an online following.

Chinese Embassy Confirms Intervention

The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia confirmed that it intervened after learning of the incident. Embassy officials contacted local police and relevant authorities before admitting the woman to a hospital for emergency treatment.

Ms Wu, a consular staff member based in Sihanoukville, later confirmed that the woman had been lured to Cambodia with the promise of a high-paying job. Her condition has since stabilised, and arrangements are being made for her to return to China after her family was contacted.

Not an Isolated Case

The case has drawn comparisons to previous incidents involving Chinese nationals and influencers who went missing after travelling to Cambodia. In at least one earlier case, investigations later revealed links to human smuggling or labour exploitation syndicates.

Online records show that the woman’s Douyin account had already been tagged with a Cambodia IP address as early as April last year. Her posts continued sporadically, with the last video uploaded on 10 December 2025.
