SPCA shares heartbreaking footage of two dogs allegedly dumped by their owner. They’re still waiting at the gate, unaware he’s never coming back.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has released a heartbreaking story of two dogs that were allegedly abandoned at their shelter by their owner — an incident that was caught on CCTV.

According to SPCA, the incident took place early on the morning of 19 May. Security footage shows a man opening the shelter’s gate, letting the two dogs in, and then driving off without hesitation. The dogs, confused and loyal, are seen walking back to the gate, waiting — hopeful that their owner would return.

But he never did.

SPCA did not mince words in its public statement. “This isn’t surrender. This is abandonment,” the organisation wrote. “And it happens again and again — without warning, without responsibility.”

The shelter stressed the emotional toll these actions take — not just on the animals, but also on the people trying to help them. Proper surrender procedures exist for a reason: to ensure the safety, emotional well-being, and placement of the animal. Dropping pets off without consent or warning isn’t just irresponsible — it’s deeply damaging.

“There are hearts — broken ones — left behind every time someone chooses to dump and disappear,” the post continued.

SPCA ended their message with a simple plea to the public: “Please do better. They deserve better.”

Shockingly, just two days earlier on 17 May, the shelter recorded a similar incident. This time, it was a couple who dumped an animal at the shelter after hours under the cover of darkness.

“Some people say, ‘At least they left it at SPCA.’ But that’s not rescue — that’s abandonment,” the shelter clarified. “It’s irresponsible, illegal under the Animal Welfare Act, and dangerous for the animals involved.”

The organisation reminded the public that shelters are already stretched thin and cannot absorb the consequences of every irresponsible act.

“We don’t ‘deserve’ to be dumped on — we deserve respect, just like the animals do,” SPCA wrote in their closing.

The message is clear: helping animals is more than just good intentions. It requires accountability. There are proper procedures for surrendering pets, and the public is urged to work with shelters, not against them.

And above all: don’t buy or adopt pets unless you’re prepared for a lifetime of responsibility. Never walk away from them.
