KBS Issues Stern Warning, May File Police Report If Warzone World Championship Proceeds
KBS To Take Action If Warzone World Championship Continues
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) has issued a stern warning against the organizers of the Warzone World Championship (WWC), which is scheduled to take place on December 6 and 7 at Stadium Arena 9, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
According to Bernama, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh stated that the event, which features fighters from Malaysia and Indonesia, cannot proceed as it has not received official approval from the ministry.
“No Approval Means The Event Cannot Proceed”
“Although they have started promoting the event, it is not listed under KBS-approved programs. This means there is no authorization from KBS, and without approval, the event cannot take place,” she said after the launch of the ‘Jaguh Rakan Muda’ Reality TV Program today.
Hannah stressed that any sports event, especially those involving international participants, must obtain approval from KBS to ensure participant and spectator safety, including insurance verification and related permits.
Approval Process Ensures Safety And Compliance
The minister explained that the approval process typically takes 30 days for review, and organizers must comply with all safety and content guidelines before receiving clearance.
“This process is crucial to ensure every sporting event is conducted safely for both participants and the audience. Approval is not a formality — it’s about safety and accountability,” she said.
Parents Express Concern Over Violent Promotional Content
Hannah also revealed that many parents have voiced objections to the event, especially after promotional videos went viral showing young children from Malaysia and Indonesia engaging in physical fights.
“Many parents were angry after seeing the videos. Not all content is suitable for the Malaysian audience, particularly when we are actively addressing bullying issues among youth,” she said.
She added that the government will not support any form of content or event that promotes violence or bullying among young people.
Government Stands Firm On Safe Sports Policy
“For me, the number of views means nothing. No matter how viral your videos get, I have a responsibility to uphold the Safe Sports Code,” she said.
Hannah emphasized that she is aligned with Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (Minister of Women, Family and Community Development) and Fadhlina Sidek (Minister of Education) in maintaining policies that protect the younger generation from harmful content.
“With the current bullying trends, the government simply cannot support content like this. I’m sorry, but we will not compromise on this matter,” she added.
Legal Action Possible For Unauthorized Event
Hannah reminded organizers that any sporting event, particularly those involving international participants, must obtain approval from the Commissioner of Sports Malaysia (PJS) in accordance with the Sports Development Act 1997 [Act 576].
She warned that KBS will not hesitate to file a police report if the event continues without official approval from the authorities.
