Machete Attack in Seremban Mall Leaves Man Seriously Injured

A shocking machete attack at a Seremban shopping mall on 14 April has left a 40-year-old man with serious injuries, prompting a police investigation into what may be a revenge-driven assault.

The incident, which occurred around 7pm, was caught on CCTV and has since gone viral online. The footage shows the victim standing alone near an escalator — reportedly taking a smoke break — when a group of individuals suddenly rushes toward him. One man, armed with a machete, launches a brutal attack.

The victim, caught off guard, is seen trying to flee but gets struck multiple times by the weapon. According to Seremban district police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din, the man suffered slash wounds to his arms, back, and right leg.

“He was unable to avoid the attack and was slashed repeatedly. However, he managed to escape and was believed to have been helped by a friend who was nearby,” Mohamad Hatta said in a statement on 15 April.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and is now in stable condition. While police have not confirmed the exact motive, initial findings suggest the attack could be rooted in personal revenge. The case is currently being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons.

The suspect has been identified, and authorities are actively working to locate and arrest the individual involved. Police are also calling on any eyewitnesses or individuals with information to come forward.

“Anyone who saw the incident or has relevant details is urged to contact Inspector Tharvin at 019-3666048 or report to the nearest police station to aid the investigation,” said Mohamad Hatta.owth, he warned against over-privatisation of the military, stressing the need for internal capability to maintain and operate defence assets during crises.
