Malaysian Collector Sells Pokémon Cards for RM1.87 Million
Malaysian Pokémon Collector Cashes In Big With RM1.87 Million Sale
A longtime dream turned into a million ringgit reality for one Shah Alam collector and it did not involve battling gym leaders.
A Decade Long Collection Pays Off
Damiral Imran, a passionate Pokémon trading card game collector, has reportedly sold his prized collection for an incredible RM1.87 million. The sale, which spread rapidly across social media and international collector forums, is believed to be one of the largest private Pokémon deals ever recorded in Malaysia.
Built over more than ten years, Damiral’s collection featured sealed booster boxes, PSA graded cards, and ultra rare holo prints dating back to the early 2000s. It was a dream vault for any serious Pokémon TCG enthusiast.
Experts estimate the full value of the collection to exceed RM2 million, with individual cards such as pristine condition Charizards and limited edition tournament promos each worth tens of thousands of ringgit.
Cash or Porsche Buyer’s Choice
When Damiral decided to let go of his collection, he made it more than just a transaction. He turned it into a collector’s event. Instead of requesting only cash, he offered a creative deal. RM1.87 million or a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S plus some top up cash.
To further incentivize the sale, he even offered RM50,000 commission to anyone who could link him to a serious buyer. He also promised to throw in a bonus card worth over RM50,000 for the person who closed the deal.
Pokémon Cards Now Serious Investments
Pokémon cards have grown far beyond childhood nostalgia. Over the past few years, rare cards have become serious investment assets often fetching eye watering prices at auctions. Internationally, cards featuring first edition Charizards or Japanese promo prints have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
For collectors like Damiral, the value went beyond money but in this case, it paid off massively.
