Mixue Malaysia Responds To Allegations of Racist Job Ad — Claims It Was an ‘Error in Hiring Process’

Mixue Malaysia recently addressed controversy surrounding a job advertisement at one of its outlets that drew backlash for appearing to exclude certain racial groups from employment opportunities.
The issue sparked debate when an Instagram user, @mohaneyyy, shared a screenshot of a recruitment poster displayed at Mixue’s Sri Sinar outlet in Segambut. The ad stated that only Malay and Chinese candidates with experience could apply, raising concerns about discriminatory hiring practices.
The post quickly gained traction online, with netizens questioning why a global food and beverage brand would implement such exclusive hiring criteria. Many voiced frustration, urging for inclusivity and equal job opportunities for all Malaysians.
In response to the backlash, Mixue Malaysia clarified to SAYS that the poster was independently put up by an individual outlet and did not reflect the company’s official hiring policies.
“Unfortunately, an error in their [the outlet’s] hiring process led to misleading information. As soon as we became aware of the issue, we instructed the store to remove the poster and provided guidance to ensure their future recruitment practices follow proper procedures,” Mixue Malaysia stated.
The company emphasised that diversity and inclusion are fundamental to its operations. They stressed their commitment to maintaining an open, inclusive, and welcoming environment for employees of all backgrounds.
“We respect diversity and are committed to fostering an open, inclusive, and welcoming environment for employees from all backgrounds. Any form of discrimination contradicts our core values and will not be tolerated,” the company added.
