A tense high speed chase unfolded in Kelantan when a police patrol unit attempted to inspect a Perodua Myvi occupied by two individuals acting suspiciously in Kampung Sungai Rual. After the car was halted, the young man tried to flee on foot. A physical struggle ensued before officers managed to detain him. Investigations later confirmed that he is a local university student, while his girlfriend is an SPM candidate.

According to an official statement issued by Jeli PDRM, both teenagers were believed to have panicked when approached by police. Further checks found that neither had any prior criminal history, and no other offences were detected at the scene.

Case Investigated Under Section 186 and Section 279

Jeli District Police Chief, Superintendent Kamarulzaman Harun, said the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant and Section 279 for dangerous driving. He reminded the public to comply with officers and warned that reckless actions can jeopardise a young person’s future and education.
