Red Sea Tragedy: Tourist Submarine Sinks, 6 Dead, Victims’ Identities Spark Controversy

A shocking tragedy occurred in the Red Sea waters of Egypt when a tourist submarine carrying 44 passengers sank during a diving tour to explore the beautiful coral reefs in the resort town of Hurghada. The tragic incident claimed the lives of at least six people, while nine others were injured, five of whom were reported to be in critical condition. The 29 survivors were rescued by the rescue team before being taken back to their respective hotels.

According to official sources from the Red Sea Governorate quoted by Xinhua, authorities are still actively investigating to determine the exact cause of the incident, but the identities and nationalities of the victims were initially not clearly disclosed. Controversy arose when the Russian Consulate in Hurghada revealed that all the passengers involved, including children, were Russian citizens, tourists from the popular travel agency, Biblio Globus. Local media also reported that the tourist submarine, known as Sindbad, was taking tourists to explore the coral reefs when it suddenly encountered problems, causing the submarine to sink abruptly.

This incident has garnered international attention due to the high number of casualties and the identities of the victims involved, raising various speculations about the safety of underwater tourism activities in the Red Sea, which is a major destination for tourists worldwide.
