Woman Shocked as Her MySARA Was Used in Sabah

Selangor Woman Discovers Her MySARA Funds Were Spent in Sabah Without Her Knowledge

A shocking revelation unfolded this week when a woman from Selangor realised that her RM100 MySARA aid had already been claimed—by someone in Sabah.

The discovery came to light when she was notified that RM98.60 had been deducted from her SARA account, even though she never authorised any transaction.

IC Stolen, Funds Used Without Consent

According to her, the situation likely stemmed from a past incident where she had lost her Identification Card (IC) in Sabah.

What’s more disturbing is that CCTV footage later emerged showing a stranger—reportedly a woman in a pink sweater—using the stolen IC to buy groceries in a supermarket in Tawau.

The individual was caught on camera purchasing two trays of eggs and two bags of rice, totalling RM98.60, using a MYKASIH 5272 account linked to the MySARA aid.

The incident has since gone viral on social media, raising alarm bells about identity theft and the potential exploitation of government aid programmes.

Receipt & CCTV Footage Raise Red Flags

The woman posted both the supermarket receipt and CCTV stills online, showing the transaction and the person involved.

The receipt clearly shows the purchase of two 30-piece egg trays and two packs of rice, confirming that her full RM100 allocation was nearly drained without her consent.

The fact that someone else managed to access the aid using a lost IC raises major concerns about system loopholes.

Netizens Suspect Wider Syndicate

Online reactions were swift and critical. Many netizens expressed outrage, with some suggesting that such fraudulent cases are frequent in Tawau and Sabah at large.

“This proves how widespread fake ICs are in Sabah,” one X user commented.

Another wrote, “They sell ICs there. This isn’t new. We need the government to step in.”

Several pointed out that the system should have safeguards, like automatic chip deactivation once a new IC is issued.

“If a replacement IC is made, the old chip should stop working. Why wasn’t that the case here?” asked one user.

Investigation Underway

Following the incident, the woman has lodged a police report, and authorities have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.

At the time of writing, no suspects have been arrested, but public pressure is mounting for clearer accountability and tighter safeguards to prevent misuse of national assistance funds like MySARA.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has yet to release an official statement addressing the incident.
