When you’re overseas, you must miss eating Malaysian food or getting groceries from home, right? The taste is just different, it hits the spot for Malaysians. But, did you know that even in the West, you can easily get Malaysian groceries?
A TikToker recently showed how she could find Malaysian groceries in Chicago, far from home. In a video, she shared her experience buying items like red onions at an Asian grocery store there, Chin Land Asian Market.
“What do you think, that I can’t find Malaysian items here? Actually, I can buy things like this in Chicago. This is a Burmese grocery store, but they carry lots of Malaysian goods,” she said in the video.
The TikToker added that many people assumed she only ate American food, but in fact, her mom is a great cook who makes Malaysian dishes. So, she grew up with Malaysian food even though she lives far from home.
But what’s interesting is, she didn’t just find regular ingredients, but also popular Malaysian products that everyone knows. In the video, you can see products like Hup Seng biscuits, Choki Choki chocolate, honey cakes, Adabi curry chicken cans, and Milo!
When this video went viral, many local netizens were surprised and impressed. They felt happy because it’s now easier to get Malaysian products overseas. Some commented, “If you didn’t say it was Chicago, I’d think this is a store in Felda. So many Malaysian products outside the country now!”
However, some also asked, “How much are these products there? Are they cheaper with the foreign currency?” The price question is definitely interesting because some people think Malaysian products are cheaper when bought overseas. No wonder, many are envious!
