The second season of the hit South Korean series Squid Game is giving fans more to talk about — and this time, it’s not just the intense games on screen. A promotional video featuring the cast playing traditional children’s games from around the world has gone viral, and one moment, in particular, has captured the attention of Malaysians.
In a fun YouTube video released by Netflix on December 31, 2024, the Squid Game 2 cast tries their hand at various traditional games from different countries, including the beloved Malaysian game of batu seremban. While the stars were tested with games like sepak takraw and guli panjang, it was Park Sung-Hoon who stole the show with his impressive batu seremban skills.
Known for playing the villainous role of Hyun-ju (Player 120) in Squid Game, Park’s flawless execution of batu seremban in a single try wowed fans. His video clip, just 36 seconds long, garnered more than 50,000 views, and his cheerful “I love you, Malaysia” at the end made his fans swoon even more.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing for his co-stars. Yang Dong-geun (Player 007) struggled with sepak takraw, collapsing in mock shame after his single kick. Meanwhile, Kang Ha-neul (Player 388) humorously missed every marble target in guli panjang, even joking, “I’m sorry. Please don’t shoot me,” to the guard watching over them. The video quickly went viral, earning nearly two million views in just four days. Fans from all over the world laughed at the cast’s entertaining attempts and appreciated their charm and fun-loving nature, despite the chaos of the games.
