Fake AirPods Seller Calls Tourist ‘Stupid’ for Asking for a Refund
Tourist Asks for Refund, AirPods Seller Responds With “Stupid!”
A foreign tourist who tried to request a refund for a faulty pair of fake AirPods ended up getting insulted to his face — and the video of the incident is now going viral.
The footage, shared on TikTok, shows a pair of unlicensed street vendors stationed on a public bridge mocking and dismissing the tourist after he calmly approached them to explain that the AirPods he bought only worked on one side.
“It’s Not Supposed to Take 3 Hours to Charge”
In the video, the tourist shows the faulty earphones and explains the issue. Even though he was aware the item was not original, he wanted to see if the seller would take responsibility.
A man — believed to be the partner of the female vendor — pretends to test the device and confidently claims that the issue was simply due to a low battery.
But the tourist, unfazed, replies: “It’s not supposed to take 3 hours,” and requests a refund since the product was clearly defective.
Seller Refuses Refund, Suggests Buying Another Pair
Instead of owning up, the seller bluntly tells the tourist that all sales are final, even if the item doesn’t work.
He even suggests that if the tourist wanted a working pair, he should just buy another one.
The confrontation escalates when the tourist continues pressing for a refund. Frustrated, the seller eventually hurls an insult, calling him “stupid” and tells him to take his money and leave.
The translated captions also reveal that the vendor wanted the man to leave quickly — likely assuming the tourist wouldn’t understand Bahasa Malaysia.
Netizens Outraged: “You’re Embarrassing Malaysia”
The video sparked fierce backlash online. Many Malaysians were angry and embarrassed, especially since the country has worked hard to boost tourism.
“This is not how you treat tourists,” one commenter wrote.
“Scamming people then insulting them when they speak up? Shameful,” said another.
Others slammed the vendor for selling fake items with no accountability, saying dishonest street vendors hurt Malaysia’s reputation on the global stage.
