Former personal assistant (PA) to singer Mizz Nina, Nur Haniza Mohd Azhar, is reportedly considering legal action after being unfairly terminated from her job without solid reasons.
Quoting a report from mStar portal, Haniza was let go as a personal assistant after 11 years of service to the singer.
It’s understood that Haniza was paid RM3,500 per month, but she never received a written employment contract, salary increment, bonus, or allowances. At the same time, no contributions were made to the Social Security Organization (SOCSO) by the artist.
Furthermore, according to the portal, the termination letter was issued on March 6.
Haniza’s lawyer, Mohamad Nasruddin Ab Rahman, stated that until now, his client has not received any compensation as promised in the termination letter (April 30, her last working day).
“The termination letter was given on March 6, so salary payments for March and April should have been made as if she was still employed.
“When Nina’s side handed over the termination letter, they promised to pay compensation before April 30.
“In the letter, Mizz Nina, or Sharina Azman, 44, agreed to provide a sum of compensation, transfer ownership of a Suzuki Swift car, and the compensation payment would be made by April 30,” said Mohamad Nasruddin.
However, his client has yet to receive any payment.
Nasruddin stated that Haniza could take legal action even though she was never provided with a written employment contract. This is because both parties have a relationship as employer and employee.
“That’s why my client intends to take action for being unfairly dismissed,” he explained.
Quoting the portal report again, previously, both parties had discussions, however, the terms offered by Mizz Nina were not agreed upon by Haniza as they were deemed biased.
Nasruddin said they would file a complaint with the Department of Industrial Relations Malaysia (JPP).
“A report must be made within 60 days from the last working date. Now we want Nina’s side to take note of this matter.
“It’s understood that Nina is also not in Malaysia because after the complaint is filed, the JPP will set a date for a discussion between both parties,” he said.
