“Where Is Your Professionalism?” – M’sian Influencer Calls Out Pickleball Brand Over Unpaid Work
Malaysian Influencer Criticises Pickleball Brand for Breaching Payment Terms After Viral Video
A Malaysian influencer has taken to TikTok to voice his dissatisfaction with a pickleball brand that allegedly failed to fulfil its agreed payment terms following a content collaboration.
@adzimhariz, better known online as Mat Never Zero, said the campaign video he produced had received over 3.3 million views across TikTok and Instagram — yet the brand claimed it didn’t generate any sales, and was therefore unwilling to pay the full amount promised.
“They said the video was a failure because it didn’t bring in sales, even though the engagement was high,” Adzim said in his post. “They only wanted to pay 60% of the agreed rate.”
“They Treated It Like I Just Press Record”
Adzim shared that the 1-minute promotional video involved significant production work, including concept brainstorming, scriptwriting, and even hiring additional talent. Despite this, he claims the brand dismissed the effort involved and offered a reduced fee.
“I showed them the script, followed their direction, even inserted their promo code and uploaded the product to TikTok Shop voluntarily — and they still said the video failed its objective.”
He also noted that if the client had wanted direct conversions, the content direction should have focused on hard selling. However, that wasn’t agreed upon from the start.
Payment Delayed, Then Cut Short
Adzim claims the brand delayed payment repeatedly, before sending a message offering only half the agreed fee.
“Where is your professionalism? If I hadn’t spoken up, would I even get paid?” he asked. “This video is my evidence, should I need to take the matter to court.”
He ended the video by saying the content was intended not just to explain his side, but also to document the incident in case he needed to pursue legal action.
