YouTuber Pushes Proton Saga To Its Limits, Foreign Fans Shocked By Its Durability

YouTuber Tests Proton Saga On Track, Results Shock The Internet

A YouTuber known as Garbage Time, famous for his wild experiments with old cars, went viral after taking a Proton Saga to a professional racetrack.

In his latest video, he revealed that his Mitsubishi Evo, originally meant for racing, had broken down. So, he decided to bring his Proton Saga — nicknamed “Gobber” — to the track instead.

What made this even more fascinating was the car’s backstory. The same Proton Saga had previously been used in several of his extreme “torture tests,” where he experimented with unconventional materials to test engine durability and reliability. Despite being pushed through all kinds of abuse in previous videos, the Saga was still running well enough to face the challenge of a real racetrack.

Proton Saga Proves Its Strength Beyond Expectations

Surprisingly, the Proton Saga performed exceptionally well on the track. The footage showed the car maintaining stable handling around corners, even when it understeered slightly, and still managed to keep up with a BMW in front.

At one point, the car reached a top speed of around 97 mph — a remarkable figure for a compact sedan not built for racing.

Even Garbage Time himself was impressed, jokingly saying,

“Proton, how did you make this? Everyone talks about Toyota, but I pick Proton. There’s magic in this engine!”

Netizens Call It The “Best Ad Proton Never Made”

The video quickly spread across social media, gaining praise from international viewers who were amazed by the Proton Saga’s endurance. Many were shocked at how the car could still perform so well after going through so many experiments.

“This is the best ad Proton never made,” wrote one viewer. Others agreed that the video perfectly showcased the brand’s toughness — something no official advertisement could replicate.

Some even encouraged Garbage Time to create a dedicated “Proton Saga Track Project” to explore how far the Malaysian car’s potential could really go under full racing conditions.
