British Man’s Cat Cafe in Malaysia Criticized by Brits for Not Serving Pork
Greg Larcombe, a UK TikToker better known as the “100plus guy,” has stirred both support and controversy with his plant-based cat cafe in Kuching, Sarawak. While Malaysians have embraced the concept with open arms, some of Greg’s fellow Brits aren’t as welcoming — simply because his cafe doesn’t serve pork or alcohol.
The cafe, named Pawsitive, focuses on being inclusive to all communities in Malaysia. It serves only vegetarian and plant-based meals, made from halal-certified ingredients, though it currently does not carry official halal certification.
More than just a dining space, 50% of the cafe’s profits go toward caring for rescued stray cats, giving visitors a cozy and furry experience.
But not everyone is happy.
Despite his good intentions, several netizens from the UK have expressed anger on social media, accusing the cafe of being “woke” or discriminatory towards pork-eaters.
“I’m boycotting this cafe.”
“Say goodbye to your business. I won’t be coming.”
“You’re discriminating against pork eaters!”
The backlash, though baffling to Malaysians, seems rooted in cultural arrogance. Many netizens argue this is yet another example of certain Westerners imposing their culinary norms in countries with completely different social and religious contexts.
Greg, however, remains unbothered. In fact, local Malaysians have shown overwhelming support, praising his compassion toward animals and inclusive approach to food.
As Greg continues to run Pawsitive with love and purpose, the message is clear: good food, good cause — no pork needed.
