76-Year-Old Sells Nasi Campur From Car Boot in Subang Jaya

In the heart of Subang Jaya, 76-year-old Wak Usop has quietly become a local legend — selling delicious, kampung-style nasi campur out of his car boot for more than two decades.

Home-Cooked With Heart — And Just Like Grandma’s Cooking

If you’re craving nostalgic dishes that taste like they came from your grandmother’s kitchen, Bonet Lauk Wak Usop is the place to go. Every meal is lovingly prepared by Wak Usop himself.

“I cook everything myself. I don’t like other people cooking for me. If it’s too salty or bland, I take responsibility because I cooked it myself,” he told SAYS.

He starts cooking every day at 7am, and by 11.30am, he’s ready to serve his regulars at his usual spot in SS16, Subang Jaya.

From Government Office to Car Boot — The Hustle Never Stopped

Wak Usop shared that he used to run a stall near a district office in SS16. But after the office moved, he continued the business independently — setting up shop from his car boot instead.

That never slowed him down. Today, his car attracts a loyal crowd of customers from all walks of life.

“I cook from 7am, Monday to Thursday. I start selling from 11.30am, and by 1pm, I’m usually done and head home,” he said.

More Than 10 Dishes, Menu Changes Daily

Wak Usop’s rotating menu includes favourites like sambal tempeh, ayam masak merah, and asam pedas, among many others. He prepares over 10 dishes daily, often changing the menu to keep things fresh.

And he keeps his prices low — sometimes even lower than Menu Rahmah standards — simply because he believes in giving back.

“That’s how I share my blessings with others and friends. That’s the only way I can give,” he added.
