Ipoh Man Allegedly Beats Pet Dog to Death, Animal Welfare Group Demands Investigation
A graphic video circulating online shows a man striking a dog repeatedly with what appears to be a stick while an older woman tries to intervene. The clip later shows the dog lying motionless with visible injuries — a scene that has horrified viewers and prompted calls for swift action.
SAFM Condemns the Incident, Calls for Legal Action
The Stray Animal Foundation Malaysia (SAFM) described the case as “deeply disturbing” and called on authorities to investigate immediately. In a statement, SAFM said the footage appears to show the suspect — reportedly the child of the dog’s owner — continuing the assault despite the mother’s attempts to stop him.

“Acts of cruelty like this are deeply worrying. Someone who can harm animals so brutally could also be a danger to people,” the foundation said.
Reports Urged to Police and DVS
SAFM urged anyone who witnessed the incident to file a police report and notify the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS). The group stressed that the case should be investigated under Section 30 of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, which carries penalties including a fine of between RM20,000 and RM100,000, imprisonment up to three years, or both.
“We urge DVS to take swift and firm action so justice is served and to send a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated,” SAFM added.
What Happens Next
At the time of reporting, there is no public confirmation of arrests or charges. Authorities typically review evidence from viral videos, eyewitness accounts and relevant veterinary reports when determining whether to open a criminal investigation.
Members of the public with information about the incident are being asked to come forward to assist the investigation.
