“Serves Him Right” — PDRM Seizes Extremely Modified Motorbike In Sarawak

PDRM Seizes Dangerously Modified Motorcycle

A recent enforcement action in Sarawak has caught the attention of netizens after the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) seized a dangerously modified motorcycle belonging to a road user in Kuching. According to a Facebook post, swift enforcement by Kuching police resulted in the motorcycle being confiscated and the rider being issued a fine.

Photos of the seized motorcycle quickly circulated online and sparked discussions about unsafe vehicle modifications. Many people were surprised by the extent of the modifications made to the bike.

Extreme Modifications Raise Safety Concerns

Images shared in the post revealed several alarming changes made to the motorcycle. Among the most dangerous modifications was the removal of the rear brake, which significantly increases the risk of accidents.

The motorcycle was also missing side mirrors and was fitted with a loud exhaust system. Such modifications not only endanger the rider but also pose risks to other road users while contributing to noise pollution.

Authorities Stress Importance Of Road Safety

In the same post, authorities warned that riding motorcycles with such dangerous modifications can threaten public safety. “Riding motorcycles with these modifications not only risks the rider’s safety but also poses dangers to others and contributes to noise pollution. Congratulations to the Kuching District Police’s BSPT for their efficient and swift enforcement action,” the post stated.

The statement also explained that the Sarawak Contingent Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) will continue active enforcement to ensure road users comply with traffic laws and maintain safety on public roads.

Netizens Support Police Action

The enforcement action quickly gained support from many netizens who praised the police for taking firm action against dangerous vehicle modifications. One commenter wrote, “Well done, PDRM. If possible, they should keep the motorcycle seized a bit longer, like 10 years.”

Another netizen simply said, “Serves the rider right,” while others urged authorities to impose stricter penalties on offenders. One user commented, “Issue the fine immediately! Don’t give them a chance to get away.”

Loud Exhausts Disturb Nearby Communities

Many commenters also pointed out that extremely loud exhaust systems can disturb nearby communities, especially in residential areas. One netizen explained that such noise can affect people living nearby, including families with babies and elderly residents.

“The exhaust is so loud that it can hurt the ears of people nearby, especially in residential areas. It’s not just babies who get woken up, even older people can’t even have some peace of mind,” the netizen wrote. Another user welcomed the enforcement action and said it could help reduce accidents caused by unsafe motorcycle modifications, writing, “Alhamdulillah, this helps reduce accidents caused by the lack of brakes. They should seize more motorcycles like this on the road.”
