A 16-year-old boy fleeing police in a Proton Wira finally gave up when an officer pulled out an HK MP5
Police Chase Ends Dramatically After Teen Tries to Flee in Proton Wira
A 16-year-old boy sparked a high-speed police pursuit through the streets of Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, after he attempted to evade officers during a routine patrol on Monday evening (September 8).
Teen Refused to Stop, Only Halted When Officer Brandished an HK MP5
According to Kuala Terengganu Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent Wan Mohd Zaki Wan Ismail, the incident unfolded around 6:30 PM as two officers from the district Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit spotted a grey Proton Wira behaving suspiciously on Jalan Bandar Baru.
“The officers signaled for the vehicle to stop, but the driver sped up in an attempt to escape,” he said.
Despite repeated commands through the patrol vehicle’s loudspeaker, the teenager continued to drive recklessly, even endangering the officers by veering dangerously close to their car.
In a decisive moment, one of the officers pulled out an HK MP5 submachine gun as a stern warning — prompting the young driver to finally slow down and stop the vehicle.
The Driver Was a School Student Using His Brother’s Car Without Permission
Once the vehicle came to a halt, the boy’s father was contacted and arrived at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the teenager had taken his brother’s Proton Wira without consent.
He was then detained for questioning.
Police Issue Summons and Launch Investigation
Police have issued the teen a summons for driving without a license and warned him against repeating such dangerous behavior.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which pertains to obstructing public servants from performing their duties.
“Driving without a license and attempting to evade law enforcement is not only illegal, but it also poses serious risks to public safety,” Superintendent Wan Mohd Zaki stressed.
