However, Ramadhan Saifullah failed to convert the spot kick, leaving the match level and handing JDT a major lifeline at a crucial stage of the final.
Guilherme And Arif Aiman Seal The Victory
With the game still finely balanced, JDT head coach Xisco Muñoz introduced Arif Aiman Hanapi in an effort to strengthen the attack. The decision paid off brilliantly as Marcos Guilherme broke the deadlock in the 81st minute before Arif Aiman added a second goal shortly afterwards to put the result beyond doubt. The victory completed a remarkable four-trophy campaign for JDT, who had already lifted the Charity Shield, Super League and FA Cup earlier in the season. While Kuching City fell short of a historic upset, their impressive run to the final and competitive performance against Malaysia’s most successful club earned widespread praise from football fans across the country.
