No. The haze affecting parts of Malaysia is a separate issue from Indonesia’s volcanic activity. According to the report, much of the haze came from forest and peatland fires in Kalimantan. Those fires were worsened by prolonged dry weather and El Niño conditions. Indonesia is also highly volcanically active because it sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, with more than 120 active volcanoes. So while the haze and eruptions happened during the same difficult period, they came from different causes.
