Asked For Diwali Sweets, Got TVs, Fridges And Even A Fake Battle Tank Order — Indian Influencer Forced To Flee Home!
Indian influencer Veeramani reportedly fled his home in Madurai after online pranksters used his publicly shared address and phone number to place numerous cash-on-delivery orders. What began as a request for Diwali sweets escalated into deliveries of expensive electronics and household appliances. Pranksters even circulated fake confirmations for industrial machinery and a military tank, although no actual tank delivery was confirmed.
He Only Wanted A Box Of Diwali Sweets, But The Internet Had Other Plans
Imagine sharing your address online because you’re hoping someone will send you a box of sweets for Diwali, only to find delivery drivers arriving with televisions, refrigerators and washing machines instead. That was the situation faced by Veeramani, a social media influencer from Madurai, India, after he publicly shared his home address and telephone number ahead of the festive celebration. His original intention was straightforward: he wanted well-wishers to send him a box of sweets. However, unidentified online pranksters allegedly took advantage of the information and began placing numerous e-commerce orders using his details. Instead of receiving the festive treats he had hoped for, Veeramani found himself dealing with an increasing number of delivery workers arriving at his doorstep with products he had never ordered. The situation quickly escalated because the purchases were made using cash-on-delivery, meaning payment was expected when the goods arrived. What initially appeared to be an online joke soon became a serious disruption to his everyday life.
From RM7,266 Television To A Supposed Military Battle Tank
The unwanted orders were far from ordinary purchases. Delivery workers from major shopping platforms, including Amazon and Flipkart, reportedly arrived with expensive household appliances and electronics such as refrigerators, washing machines, smartphones and televisions. One television alone was reportedly priced at INR169,000, approximately RM7,266, with payment expected upon delivery. The situation became even more absurd when pranksters began circulating fake order confirmations for industrial machinery and military equipment worth millions of dollars. Among the most outrageous claims was a supposed order involving a T-905 Main Battle Tank. However, there is an important distinction: the tank was mentioned in a purported order confirmation, not confirmed as an actual item delivered to his home. There is no verified evidence that a military tank was purchased, dispatched or transported to his address. Meanwhile, unwanted food deliveries reportedly continued arriving throughout the day, adding to the disruption. Although the tank claim attracted attention because of how ridiculous it sounded, the repeated arrival of actual delivery orders was the problem Veeramani was struggling to manage.
Influencer Begs Pranksters To Stop Before Leaving His Home
As the unwanted deliveries continued, Veeramani eventually posted an emotional video on Instagram appealing to those responsible to stop. He explained that a simple request for sweets had left him under considerable pressure, with delivery workers repeatedly turning up at his residence expecting payment for items he had not ordered. Despite his public appeal, the disruptions reportedly continued. Unable to manage the situation, Veeramani eventually locked his house and left the neighbourhood, with local residents reportedly confirming his departure. In a later social media update, he said he was travelling and that his location could no longer be traced. Calls to the telephone number he had previously shared were also reportedly blocked. His exact whereabouts were not publicly established at the time of the report. Beyond the bizarre claims about tanks and industrial equipment, the incident highlights how sharing personal contact information publicly can expose someone to coordinated harassment, especially when online ordering systems allow purchases to be placed using another person’s details. What started as a festive request for a small gift ultimately left the influencer reportedly unable to remain comfortably in his own home.
