A Malaysian Woman’s Terrifying Flood Ordeal in Kajang Tunnel

A terrifying incident unfolded on 6 March when a sudden flood trapped a woman in a tunnel leading to a condominium in Kajang. The water, allegedly originating from a nearby construction site, rapidly turned the tunnel into a dangerous trap for unsuspecting drivers.

One of the drivers, who shared her harrowing experience with SAYS, explained that the water initially seemed shallow enough to pass through. However, as she drove further into the tunnel, a sudden surge of water swept her car into the middle of the tunnel.
The woman attempted to accelerate or reverse, but her car began to float. Another vehicle, possibly a Myvi, managed to pass through successfully, but she wasn’t as lucky. Within 10 minutes, water had leaked into her car and rose to the passenger seat level. Realizing her dire situation, she called emergency services and managed to roll down her window just before her car’s battery died.

Carefully, she placed one foot down and found solid ground, with the water reaching her stomach, approximately 1m deep. She then waded through the strong flood currents until she reached dry land. Fortunately, she made it out safely and was later assisted by her father, who waited for the water to recede before retrieving her car. The Kajang Fire and Rescue Station confirmed the incident but said the cause of the flooding was still under investigation. Heavy rainfall was reported in the area before the incident.
