Recently, a video went viral showing a cockroach crawling in the sushi display at Empire Sushi in Sunway Pyramid, sparking disgust among netizens. The video, posted by TikTok user @hazieqira98, captured a small cockroach moving behind the displayed sushi.
With over 1.4 million views, many expressed disappointment and criticized the restaurant’s cleanliness. Some voiced their disgust, while others advised staff to be more diligent about hygiene, especially during closing hours.
Following the incident, Empire Sushi issued a formal apology on their TikTok account on November 7. The restaurant emphasized its commitment to customer safety and well-being. The affected branch was temporarily closed to conduct a thorough cleaning, including calling in pest control services to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“We are committed to addressing this issue and ensuring every visit is worry-free,” Empire Sushi added in their statement.
