Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, 73, has been acquitted of 12 charges of money laundering totaling RM7 million and five charges of failing to declare her income to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB). The High Court ruled in her favor today, bringing an end to a case that began over five years ago.

Rosmah was accused of committing these offenses between December 2013 and June 2017. In September 2023, she filed to dismiss the charges, claiming they were legally defective and lacked essential elements of the alleged crimes.

Judge K. Muniandy, upon reviewing her application, declared the charges invalid and issued an order for acquittal. However, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has announced their intention to appeal the decision.

Speaking to reporters, Rosmah expressed gratitude for the ruling, calling it “justice” not just for herself but also for her husband, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who remains in prison.

“This acquittal is more than a birthday gift; it is a meaningful symbol of justice for me and my family,” said Rosmah, who celebrated her 73rd birthday on 10 December.

Rosmah was initially charged in October 2018 at the Sessions Court before her case was transferred to the High Court. With her acquittal coinciding with her birthday month, Rosmah sees it as a moment of vindication amidst a turbulent chapter in her life.

The case has garnered widespread public interest, especially given Rosmah’s prominent role as Najib’s spouse and her association with the controversial title of “Bossku,” a nickname popularized by her husband’s supporters.
