Cinema Accidentally Plays Adult Movie Instead Of Spider-Man, Audience Left Stunned
Spider-Man Fans Got A Surprise Instead

Moviegoers who bought tickets for Spider-Man: Brand New Day were expecting to see Tom Holland return as Marvel’s friendly neighbourhood superhero. Instead, they were left stunned after a cinema projection error accidentally played the R-rated film I Want Your Sex. The incident reportedly happened during the movie’s opening weekend, catching everyone in the auditorium completely off guard.
Audience Quickly Realised Something Was Wrong
Videos shared on Instagram showed confused moviegoers reacting as explicit scenes unexpectedly appeared on the big screen. As people realised the wrong movie had been played, several could be heard shouting towards the projection booth and asking staff to stop the screening. Others reportedly called for the cinema manager before employees eventually corrected the mistake. It remains unclear how long the incorrect film was shown or whether affected customers received refunds.
Both Films Opened On The Same Weekend
The mix-up is believed to have happened because both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and I Want Your Sex were released in US cinemas on 31 July. While Spider-Man is aimed at mainstream audiences, the other film is an R-rated comedy thriller directed by Gregg Araki and stars Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. Clips of the unusual mistake have since gone viral across social media due to the huge contrast between the two movies.
