Diner Shocked to Find Cockroach in Meal at Japanese Eatery, Owner Quickly Apologises

Nothing ruins an appetite faster than discovering an unwanted “extra ingredient” in your meal. This was exactly what happened to two young women dining at a well-known Japanese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur when they found a cockroach in one of their dishes.

One of the diners, known as @mellycka on TikTok, was enjoying her rice dish when she suddenly spotted the insect. Clearly disgusted, she shared her experience online. “I have nothing much to say but this was our first experience here, and shall be the last. Please do better,” she wrote in her video.

The restaurant staff quickly replaced her meal with a fresh one and even offered her free ice cream as compensation. However, the real turning point came when the owner personally reached out to apologise.

Restaurant Takes Immediate Action

In an update, Melly revealed that the restaurant took the incident seriously, implementing strict hygiene measures to ensure such an issue wouldn’t happen again. Among the immediate steps taken: temporarily shutting down for a full deep cleaning, conducting a thorough inspection with an exterminator, and refreshing the premises with new paint and touch-ups.

As part of the apology, the owner invited Melly to return for another meal on the house after all the improvements were made. While food contamination is always a nightmare for any restaurant, netizens praised the eatery for its swift response and genuine effort to rectify the issue.
