A hot pot restaurant owner has become an Internet sensation for her incredibly realistic robotic movements.
Videos of the woman have gone viral, showing her stiff, robot-like movements as she serves customers at a restaurant in Chongqing, China.
The 26-year-old can be seen greeting customers, serving dishes, and pouring tea in mechanical movements, all whilst moving in a way that’s similar to a robot.
The woman, who goes by Ms. Qin, is understood to be a professional dancer.
According to South China Morning Post, Ms. Qin shared with Jiupai News that robot movements are similar to street dancing, making it easier for her to replicate them.
Her online fame came unexpectedly when her friends visited her restaurant one day and took a video of her dancing.
“By chance, they thought my impersonation was very realistic and recorded a video of me, which was then uploaded online,” said Qin.
The video quickly went viral, fooling many people into thinking she was an actual robot. Since then, she has uploaded videos of her robotic movements on Douyin, China’s equivalent of TikTok.
