Malaysian Drivers Leave “Please Don’t Fine Me” Notes As Parking App Goes Down

Flexi Parking Outage Frustrates Malaysian Drivers

A widespread Flexi Parking outage left many Malaysian motorists unable to pay for their parking fees, prompting some to leave handwritten notes on their vehicles in the hope of avoiding parking compounds. The issue gained attention after Threads user @talmizal shared that he had spent nearly an hour attempting to make a payment on Tuesday morning, only to find that the application remained inaccessible due to technical issues.

Drivers Appeal For Understanding

Unable to complete the transaction, the driver printed a notice explaining that he had tried repeatedly to pay but was prevented from doing so because of the system outage. The message, placed on his vehicle’s windscreen, politely asked enforcement officers not to issue a compound and included his contact number in case further clarification was needed. The post quickly resonated with other motorists, many of whom said they experienced the same problem across multiple payment platforms, including Touch ’n Go.

Several users also urged the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to look into the issue, arguing that motorists should not be penalised when payment failures were caused by a technical disruption beyond their control.

System Recovery Still Ongoing

In an update issued on 1 July, Flexi Parking confirmed that recovery works were still in progress and that the application remained temporarily unavailable. The company said its technical team was working to restore services safely before bringing the platform back online and assured users that further updates would be shared through its official channels.

The incident has reignited discussions about the importance of reliable digital public services, especially when motorists depend entirely on mobile applications to comply with local parking regulations.
