“We Were Treated Like Animals” – Hazwani Helmi Speaks Out on Israeli Abuse
GSF volunteers were denied food, clean water, and had their belongings confiscated
Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) volunteer Hazwani Helmi, 28, has spoken out about the horrifying experience of being detained by Israeli soldiers. In a video shared on Al Jazeera’s official Instagram page, she described the conditions as inhumane and unbearable.
“The situation was terrible. All I can say is we were treated by them (Zionist soldiers) like animals. We were not given food or clean water,” she said.
Hazwani also revealed that all their personal belongings, including medical supplies, were seized by the Israeli military.
Greta Thunberg Dragged on the Floor
Hazwani also shared a disturbing moment involving Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who was part of the same GSF volunteer mission.
“They dragged Greta across the floor. She wasn’t spared either,” she added.
Reports from international media confirm that Greta is still in Israeli custody. The Swedish government is reportedly negotiating her release through legal channels.
Safe Arrival in Istanbul
Hazwani and 22 other Malaysian volunteers were eventually released and safely arrived in Istanbul, Türkiye, at around 9 PM Malaysian time. Their return marks the end of a harrowing ordeal that shocked many across the globe.
